long needed update

So, the writing project ended on Friday. We had a nice luncheon with the deans of the college of education at Canisius, as well as certificates. We shared our reflection papers - some were funny, some were tearful, all fit each of the characters of the project. We also had our last Socratic Seminar. We had a great breakfast of mimosas, cinnamon rolls, pancakes, and fruit. We also had our last open mic session - all great fun. Friday night I came home and put a couple portfolios together (one to send to Canisius for my graduate credit, one for Brocton, so my superintendent can see what I was up to this summer, and one for myself) - all have slightly different content - like my superintendent's has samples, but also informational packets, where as I left the information out of the one for Canisius, since i am sending it back to the program - they already know lots about it- mine can go either way - basically, so I can share it with co-workers who are interested, and keep it for my own use (if I ever need to get another job along the way, for example). Last night I dreamed I was back in the Writing Project, back with all my friends there. I have a wedding to go to in a couple weeks for one of the teachers we went with.

Yesterday, we went to Rochachacha to help merina888 and cmuckle move. Tiring work, but as seems to be the case this summer - I was well fed (The WNYWP, like many writing projects around the country seem to think they are the Eating Project) We went to Perkins together before we left for home, where we showered and got ready to go to Tony Roma's with Dan's parents. Yeah, I wasn't all that hungry by the time my Brontosaurus came along - lots of leftovers for tomorrow.

Got an invitation today from Brocton - for an evening with all the teachers for a beginning of the year get-together (1st time ever). I am going to make every effort to make it there, because that is along the lines of something that I did request - a way to meet other teachers before the school year started (now, granted, I figure I will still get a chance to do that even before this, as I hope to get to the building in the next week or so). Sounds like their feeding us.

And an invite to a graduation party as well.

Did I mention that I have been well-fed (maybe too well fed) this summer? No wonder I can't lose weight!

I'm planning to go to Ithaca sometime in hte next few weeks to get some more of my things from my parent's house. Not sure when yet - depends on when I get into the school to set up my room.

Otherwise, not too much going on right now - dentist appt tomorrow, gotta hit the post office, call Brocton (to see when I can get into the classroom), and clean the house (it needs it). I want to have people over by the end of summer... or at least sometime in September... so it needs ot be clean... and I want it clean for the start of the school year too.

Lots to do...but I like it that way. TTYL
